Why should you convert ODT to PDF?Ĭompatibility across systems isn’t guaranteed with ODTs. The trade-off for this, though, is that PDFs are not as easy to edit as ODTs. In other words, a PDF opened on one computer is likely to look exactly the same as it did on another computer. However, PDFs are nearly universal when it comes to compatibility. Unfortunately, full compatibility is not guaranteed, so your fonts, images, and formatting might behave a bit differently outside of the program that created the ODT. You can open ODTs in Word, Google Docs, and many other word processors. Since ODTs come from software focused on open formats, they are actually pretty versatile. These include programs such as Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice. However, instead of being created with Microsoft Word, ODT files are created in software suites that abide by the Open Document Format (ODF). ODT files are documents, similar to DOC and DOCX files.
